We are looking for an experienced IT Technical Lead to join our logistics team and drive the technical implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of logistics and supply chain systems. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, scalability, and performance of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and carrier connectivity solutions, with a strong emphasis on EDI-based integrations between ERP platforms and external logistics partners.
The IT Technical Lead will own the technical architecture, system design, and integration landscape for logistics applications, ensuring seamless data exchange between internal ERP systems and external carriers, 3PLs, and service providers. The role requires deep expertise in logistics processes, EDI standards, system integration patterns, and hands-on technical leadership to deliver solutions that optimize end‑to‑end logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Define and own the technical architecture for logistics systems, including TMS, WMS, carrier platforms, and integration middleware
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and resilient logistics technology solutions
- Ensure alignment between logistics system architecture and overall enterprise IT standards
- Act as the technical authority for logistics integrations, data flows, and system interoperability
ERP, TMS, WMS & Carrier Integration
- Lead and oversee end‑to‑end integrations between ERP systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent) and logistics platforms
- Design and maintain real‑time and batch integrations between ERP, TMS, WMS, carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs
- Ensure accurate and timely exchange of shipment, order, inventory, and financial data across systems
- Partner with functional and business teams to translate logistics requirements into technical integration solutions
EDI & Carrier Connectivity (Core Focus)
- Own the EDI strategy and technical implementation for logistics and transportation processes
- Design, implement, and support EDI integrations with carriers and logistics partners, including onboarding and ongoing support
- Manage EDI transaction flows such as (but not limited to):
- Shipment tendering, status updates, and tracking
- Freight invoicing and settlement
- Order, shipment, and delivery confirmations
- Work with common EDI standards and messages (e.g. ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON)
- Support EDI communication protocols such as AS2, SFTP, FTPS, APIs, and VANs
- Oversee mapping, transformation, validation, and error handling of EDI messages
- Ensure high availability, monitoring, and troubleshooting of EDI flows with carriers
- Drive continuous improvement of carrier integration reliability, performance, and scalability
Operations, Support & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure stable day‑to‑day operation of logistics systems and integrations
- Lead root‑cause analysis and resolution of integration, EDI, and system issues
- Define monitoring, alerting, and support processes for critical logistics interfaces
- Drive system upgrades, enhancements, and modernization initiatives
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all logistics integrations
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to internal teams and external partners
- Coordinate with ERP teams, integration teams, vendors, and carriers
- Support project delivery by reviewing designs, overseeing development, and validating solutions
- Act as a key technical interface between IT, logistics operations, and external service providers
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an IT Technical Lead or Senior Integration Lead in logistics or supply chain environments
- Strong hands‑on experience with TMS, WMS, and ERP integrations
- Deep expertise in EDI concepts, standards, and carrier integrations
- Solid understanding of logistics and transportation processes (order‑to‑delivery, shipment execution, freight settlement)
- Experience with integration platforms and middleware (iPaaS, ESB, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of system integration patterns, APIs, messaging, and data transformation
