Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled AS400 with COBOL/400 Developer with expertise in various AS400 technologies and tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and experience in COBOL development, sub-file processing, batch processing, SQL, CLP programming, RPGLE, database management, and data manipulation. Additionally, proficiency in X-Analysis tool, Microsoft Access, job scheduling, and REST API development is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize expertise in X-Analysis tool for comprehensive analysis and understanding of existing AS400 applications and systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain COBOL programs for AS400 platform, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Implement sub-file processing techniques and batch processing routines to enhance application functionality and performance.
- Write optimized SQL queries and integrate SQL concepts into COBOL and RPGLE programs for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Develop CLP programs for system automation, job control, and file management on AS400/iSeries platform.
- Utilize RPGLE language for developing new applications, enhancing existing ones, and integrating with external systems.
- Design and manage physical and logical files (PF/LF) including multi-member files, and utilize SQL for database operations.
- Create printer file formats (PRTF), handle XML data, and work with QDLS and IFS for file storage and retrieval.
- Manage data extracts, uploads, and downloads using FTP and secured FTP protocols.
- Utilize SEU or similar tools for source code management and editing.
- Demonstrate proficiency in American Software Inc. applications, if applicable, for seamless integration and support.
- Understand distribution systems and warehouse operations to develop tailored solutions.
- Import and manipulate data using Microsoft Access, leveraging its database features for analysis and reporting.
- Implement job scheduling techniques for automating recurring tasks and processes.
- Document technical designs, specifications, and procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and support.
- Apply software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies throughout the development process.
- Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and end-users, both orally and in writing.
- Develop REST APIs to facilitate integration with external systems and services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Extensive experience (6+ years) as an AS400 with COBOL/400 Developer, with expertise in all specified areas.
- Proficiency in X-Analysis tool for comprehensive application analysis.
- Strong knowledge and experience in COBOL, RPGLE, CLP, SQL, and database management on AS400 platform.
- Experience with sub-file processing, batch processing, and printer file formats.
- Familiarity with FTP and secured FTP protocols for data management.
- Proficiency in SEU or similar tools for source code management.
- Experience with American Software Inc. applications is a plus.
- Understanding of distribution systems, warehouse operations, and Microsoft Access.
- Ability to develop and consume REST APIs for seamless integration.
- Excellent documentation skills and proficiency in SDLC methodologies.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
