Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a
Mechanical Design Engineer / Product Engineer with a passion for electric vehicle development and deep expertise in mechanical systems, structural integrity, and hydraulic design. This role will involve end-to-end design, development, and validation of vehicle components and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop vehicle structures, frames, and chassis systems for electric vehicles used in off-road, agriculture, and industrial applications.
- Integrate hydraulic systems including cylinder layouts, valve placement, and load balancing for functional performance.
- Develop and optimize kinematic mechanisms for lifting, steering / articulation, and movement systems.
- Support gearbox design / selection, mechanical transmission integration, and drive system packaging.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design verification using FEA (Structural, Modal, Fatigue).
- Generate 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams.
- Participate in prototype building, field testing, and iterative design validation.
- Ensure designs are aligned with industry standards, safety regulations, and reliability expectations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in vehicle or machinery design (construction equipment, farming machinery, material movers, or automotive).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Structural design and mechanics
- Hydraulic circuit and actuator design
- Kinematic linkages and motion systems
- Gearbox design and selection
- Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS/SolidWorks Simulation preferred)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (mandatory).
- Strong foundation in physics, engineering, strength of materials, and machine design.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and field validation of mechanical systems.
Preferred Attributes
- Exposure to EV drivetrain components and packaging challenges.
- Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles and cost-effective design for manufacturing.
- Problem-solving mindset, creativity, and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
