Business Development Intern (FinTech / Banking / SaaS BFSI)

Role summary
Support revenue growth across B2B FinTech/Banking/SaaS by driving prospecting, market research, pipeline hygiene, pricing/ROI modelling in Advanced Excel, and end-to-end sales enablement. You'll work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Compliance to progress qualified opportunities to pilots/POCs and deals.
What you'll do (key responsibilities)
- Pipeline building & qualification: Map target accounts in BFSI (banks, NBFCs, insurers, payment companies, fintechs), identify buying groups, and run ICP/segmentation.
- Outbound & meetings: Execute multi-touch outreach (email/LinkedIn/calls) using personalized messaging; book discovery calls and demos for AEs/Founders.
- Discovery & notes: Join prospect calls; capture requirements, risks, and next steps; keep CRM up to date with clean, complete fields.
- Sales analytics in Excel: Build and maintain weekly dashboards (leads MQL SQL meetings POC won), cohort and funnel analysis, coverage and velocity reports.
- Pricing & ROI models: Create Excel models for unit economics, payback, and value-based pricing; prepare savings/benefit calculators for BFSI use cases.
- Proposal support: Draft RFIs/RFPs, proposals, and SoWs; tailor case studies and security/compliance responses for BFSI procurement.
- Market & competitor intel: Track competitors, partnerships, regulatory moves; produce one-pagers to inform territory and vertical strategy.
- POC/pilot coordination: Help set success criteria, timelines, stakeholder matrix, and reporting cadence; collect and socialize learnings.
- Data quality & enablement: Enrich and dedupe leads; maintain account hierarchies and contact roles; ensure pipeline hygiene and forecast readiness.
- Cross-functional sync: Liaise with Product for roadmap asks, with Marketing for campaigns, and with Legal/InfoSec for vendor onboarding.
- Compliance mindset: Support KYC/AML, cybersecurity, data privacy questionnaires, and vendor risk documentation as needed.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly BD reports and exec-ready slides.
Must-have qualifications
- Interest in B2B sales/BD within FinTech/Banking/SaaS; solid understanding of typical BFSI buying cycles (discovery POC procurement legal go-live).
- Advanced Excel: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, nested IFs, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, text/date functions, data cleaning; Power Query and what-if/scenario analysis; comfort with large, messy datasets. (Basic VBA is a plus.)
- Strong written & verbal communication; clear note-taking and follow-up discipline.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable with numbers and targets.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed Bachelor's/MBA (Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or similar).
