Business Head —BFSI
About The Company
We are a 30-year-old financial services group specializing in full-service broking, wealth management, and distribution. We are currently focused on rebuilding our offline broking presence in Karnataka from the ground up, creating a unique branch-based model where individuals come to learn about investing rather than just opening accounts.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic individual to take full ownership of our Karnataka business, overseeing the partner network, branch operations, and a new learning-centre model launching across the state. The initial focus will be on Hubli and Dharwad, with plans to expand to Mangalore and Udupi shortly thereafter.
This is a genuine build mandate, not a maintenance role. You will be responsible for the P&L, team building, and strategic decisions that drive market growth.
Reports to: Head of Marketing (with a dotted line to the Cluster Head — South Zone)
Location: Mangalore (with frequent travel across Hubli, Dharwad, Udupi, and periodic travel to Bangalore)
Responsibilities
- P&L Management: Own and manage the Karnataka P&L, including revenue, costs, and the health of the partner network across the state.
- Partner Network Growth: Rebuild and expand the active partner (AP) and Direct Selling Agent (DSA) presence, focusing on Karnataka's underserved Tier 2/3 markets.
- Learning Centre Rollout: Oversee the end-to-end rollout of learning centres, managing partnerships for training content and client experience, and collaborating with the product team on account onboarding.
- Team Building and Leadership: Recruit and lead a regional team focused on partner recruitment, high-value client relationship management, client engagement, and product/research support.
- Growth Metrics: Establish and report against key growth metrics, including active clients, daily engagement, partner count, and revenue per client.
- Branch Re-energization: Refocus efforts on the Bangalore branch to enhance partner growth and adopt a wealth-led client approach.
Qualifications
- 8–15 years of experience in BFSI or broking distribution, with proven P&L or channel ownership, ideally managing a franchisee or partner network.
- Hands-on familiarity with partner economics, KYC, onboarding, margin, and funding fundamentals.
- Experience working in Tier 2/3 markets, with a focus on building a partner or distribution network from a low base.
- Direct people-leadership experience across recruitment, relationship management, and client support teams.
- Comfort with entrepreneurial approaches alongside traditional distribution strategies, with a plus for experience in franchise-model education businesses or growth-stage fintech.
- High ownership and a straightforward relationship with numbers, comfortable with monthly performance metrics and transparent communication.
Why This Role
- Full state-level ownership with a focus on building and leading a new acquisition model.
- Visibility to senior leadership with a clear path to larger regional or national responsibilities based on performance.
- Commitment of real budget resources for partner onboarding, team hiring, and learning centre rollout.
- A genuine opportunity to build something significant in a challenging environment, with recognition for your contributions.
Work Environment
We prioritize honest feedback and direct communication, expecting monthly reporting against agreed targets. We value transparency and prefer to hear the real situation rather than a polished narrative.
Compensation
Competitive compensation, benchmarked to experience and track record, to be discussed during the hiring process.
