Role Overview
The BMS / IBMS Shift Engineer is responsible for real-time monitoring, control, analytics, and operational reliability of critical infrastructure systems through the BMS and Integrated IBMS. The role ensures continuous availability of environmental and mechanical infrastructure supporting mission-critical IT loads within hyperscale data centers while maintaining compliance with operational standards, reliability frameworks, and incident management procedures. The engineer operates from the Central Monitoring Room and serves as the first line of detection for infrastructure anomalies and alarms.
Core Mission of the Role
- Ensure 24×7 visibility, monitoring, and operational assurance of critical systems through BMS platforms to maintain
- Tier III / Tier IV uptime standards. Preventing infrastructure failures
- Detect anomalies early.
- Maintain environmental stability
- Strong alarm assessment, log-writing, communication; calm under pressure.
- Interaction with critical facility teams.
- 24×7 rotational shifts.
- Candidates must have good knowledge & understanding on various BAS protocols i.e Modbus, Bacnet,OPC etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor BMS/IBMS platforms in a 24×7 mission-critical environment.
- Alarm & Event Management.
- Environmental Reliability Management.
- Cooling Infrastructure Monitoring.
- Incident Response Support
- Identify critical/major and minor alarms in the BMS system.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Preventive Maintenance Support.
- Compliance & Operational Standards
- Analysis from Trend reporting.
- Incident report
- Maintain alarm history and incident logs
Safety:
- Prepare guidelines for safety checks of electrical equipment and accordingly create checklists.
- Ensure the safety process follows at site.
- All operations adhere to SOPs, safety norms, and compliance guidelines.
- Understanding of potential hazards associated with working around high-voltage equipment, rotating machinery, HVAC systems, and fire suppression zones.
- Candidates should follow/know the importance of work permits for any kind of work.
Other Requirement
- Candidates should not restrict themselves solely for IBMS system i.e gain exposure systems like HVAC, UPS, DG, chillers.
- Candidate must demonstrate a strong ownership mindset and ability to act as the first line of defence in detecting and preventing infrastructure failures through proactive monitoring.
- Willingness to follow strict SOP, MOP & EOP
- Ability to respond during critical incidents and emergencies, including extended working hours if required the nature of profile may require long hours beyond mandated office hours (Especially critical incidents)
- Strong understanding that the role involves mission-critical operations with zero tolerance for downtime.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies (skills):
- Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation/Electrical /
- Electronic / Mechanical or any graduate in
- appropriate engineering field.
