Job Description

Job Title: BIM Manager

  1. General Description:

BIMManagershall be responsible for BIM activities of the different Business Units of the IC. Shall lead the BIM 3D, 4D & 5D activities of the IC through co-ordination with different Stake holders such as engineering team, modellers, planning team, site project teams. He / she should guide the team consisting of BIM modellers from electrical, civil, HVAC, Fire fighting and instrumentation in technical modelling issues. Shall be responsible for BIM planning and scheduling & quality of the BIM deliverables from EDRC. Shall work in close co-ordination with Lead Engineers of all disciplines, planning team, Central BIM team with respect to developments and site teams for BIM implementation.

  1. Technical Expertise:

BIM co-ordinator shall have working knowledge in preparation of EHV gas insulated substation layouts in 2D and 3D. He should have working knowledge in AUTOCAD, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks. Shall have basic knowledge of the GIS substation and the different facilities available in the same. He should have knowledge and experience in implementation of 4D and 5D BIM in projects. He should have Basic knowledge on project planning and software such as Primavera / MS project. Experience in working with Wearables is an added advantage

  1. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Shall be responsible for BIM activities of IC. Shall guide the 3D BIM team of 3D modelers of different discipline in 3D modelling activities
  • Shall co-ordinate between different disciplines such as Electrical, Civil, HVAC, Fire fighting
  • Preparation of BIM execution plan
  • Responsible for Quality check / Audit for BIM models
  • Responsible for generation of 4D simulation & monthly reporting for all Substation projects
  • Guide the team in library creation and project template creation
  • Responsible for co-ordination & interaction with Central BIM team for Developmental works in BIM
  • Must be capable of performing Multitasking activities and to deliver the things on time
  • Shall be capable of trouble shooting issues related to the BIM model / BIM software.
  • Responsible for manpower planning and manhour estimation for the BIM team
  • Responsible for implementation of BIM strategy of IC

  1. Education & Experience Required:
    • BE in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
    • 12-15 Years of Experience
    • Minimum 8 years of BIM experience

    1. Skills Required:
      • Effective Communication skills both verbal and Written.
      • Effective Analytical & Problem Solving Skills.
      • Effective Computer Skills, MS Office.
      • Dynamic, Artistic with innovative ideas
      • Dynamo programming skills (optional)

The role of a BIM manager involves the following duties:

  • Acting as the intermediary between designers, clients and architects so that projects remain efficient and effective
  • Working closely with BIM coordinators, who are responsible for producing project information models
  • Ensuring that BIM execution plans are produced and maintained for each project
  • Completing supply chain assessments
  • Supporting and auditing the project team and flagging non-compliances
  • Training or upskilling colleagues in specific software programmes
  • Ensuring staff have access to the tools and equipment they need
  • Overseeing the purchase of workstations so that hardware is sufficient and effective
  • Producing monthly reports for senior managers, to identify and measure BIM implementation
  • Keeping up-to-date with advancements in building technology
  • Driving the implementation of digital information plans and strategies
  • Leading meetings to identify project tasks and resolve issues
  • Overseeing BIM budgets
  • Supporting the career development, coaching and mentoring of a team of staff
  • Raising the profile of BIM within across departments and teams
  • Adhering to the latest industry standards.
