Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and
experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to join our team. The ideal
candidate will possess deep expertise in PowerBI, with a strong focus on
performance optimization, UI/UX best practices, custom visual development, and
integration with other enterprise tools. Experience with large language models
(LLMs) for natural language querying and interpretation is highly desirable.
This role is critical in guiding our BI architecture and collaborating with
engineering teams to ensure robust, scalable, and user-friendly analytics
solutions. The successful candidate will also play a key role in mentoring and
developing other BI developers, helping them improve their skills and grow
professionally over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize PowerBI dashboards and reports for maximum performance and usability.
- Implement advanced PowerBI features, including custom visuals and DAX calculations, to meet complex business requirements.
- Lead UI/UX initiatives to ensure intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing BI solutions.
- Integrate PowerBI with other tools and platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, and third-party APIs).
- Leverage large language models (LLMs) to enable and enhance natural language querying and interpretation within BI solutions.
- Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to guide data model design and ensure best practices in data management.
- Advise on BI architecture, data governance, and security, leveraging your knowledge of modern data platforms.
- Mentor, support, and help develop other BI developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in BI, analytics, and natural language processing.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with PowerBI, including performance tuning, custom visual development, and advanced DAX.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles as applied to BI dashboards and reports.
- Proven ability to integrate PowerBI with SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure.
- Experience with large language models (LLMs) for natural language querying and interpretation in BI environments.
- Experience guiding data architecture and engineering teams (not necessarily performing data engineering tasks).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for mentoring and developing other BI professionals.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Tableau, Microsoft MSBI, and SSRS.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and its BI/data services.
- Experience in the U.S. healthcare payer industry, with knowledge of claims, eligibility, and payer data structures.
