Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain automated tests in Python for new and existing features of the operating system components of the Robot
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests to ensure stable and reliable releases
- Work closely with developers to understand the changes being made in the controller operating system layer or the network layer, investigate failures, and improve testability
- Contribute to and improve test frameworks
- Help define eKective test strategies and quality practices across the development lifecycle in an agile setup
- Build tests that have hardware in the loop (not all flakiness comes from software)
Qualification, Experience, Skills and Educational Background
- To succeed in this role, we imagine you have a strong background in software test engineering and a practical mindset when it comes to combining automation with hands on validation. You understand how software is built, how systems fail, and how to create eKective tests that increase quality and confidence.
Skills Required
- 4 to 6 years of experience in software backend testing, software quality engineering of OS level software components, or a similar role
- Strong experience writing and maintaining automated tests in Python for backend components using tools like pytest and FastAPI.
- Experience with Penetration testing
- Experience with API Testing
- Familiarity with GoLang and its frameworks.
- Familiarity with Containerization technique (Docker, Podman)
- Proficient with linux environment and linux commands
- Linux networking stack + systemd (services, journald, network namespaces)
- Network analysis tooling: Wireshark/tcpdump and nmap and traffic shaping for resilience tests.
- Hands-on experience with manual testing of complex systems, ideally involving hardware, robotics, or integrated software-hardware solutions
- Experience creating and maintaining unit, integration, and regression tests
- Good understanding of test frameworks, debugging, and finding root causes
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, build servers, or DevOps practices such as Jenkins or similar tools
- Ability to understand complex systems, identify risks, and design eKective test coverage
- Experience working in agile or scrum environments
It will be considered an advantage if you have:
- Familiarity with ROS2, Industrial Communication Protocols
- Familiarity with Firewall (NF Tables/IP Tables)
- Experience building or improving test automation frameworks
- Hardware-in-the-loop test frameworks such as labgrid, bench hardware, networked power for automated power-cycling, serial console capture, etc.
- Automating through the robot's own interfaces (Dashboard Server, RTDE, the primary/secondary/real-time client ports, URScript)
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, pipelines, and build servers
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to robotics or industrial systems
