Role Overview
As a Backend Engineer at Merge, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionising financial transactions for businesses through our advanced B2B fintech solutions. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to designing and implementing robust API solutions that enhance efficiency and scalability for our B2B clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimise scalable backend services and APIs using Go/Python.
- Collaborate closely with product management and frontend teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of backend systems through rigorous testing and continuous improvement.
- Implement best practices in API design, including versioning, caching, and authentication.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in backend technologies, sharing insights and proposing innovations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of proven experience in backend development using Go and/or Python, with a strong understanding of software engineering principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining APIs for B2B platforms, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Familiarity with micro-services architecture and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of database systems, both relational and NoSQL, and proficiency in SQL.
- Experience working with distributed datastore and messaging systems (eg. HBase, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.)
- Previous exposure to fintech environments is advantageous but optional.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning and development.
