Position Overview

This role owns the design, delivery, and operation of the company's core data and marketing platforms on GCP. Working end-to-end — from shaping requirements with product and business stakeholders to running reliable production systems at scale — this engineer sits at the intersection of engineering excellence and measurable business impact. The work directly powers insights consumed by 4,000+ global brands.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design and evolve backend services on GCP, making deliberate trade-offs around scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost
• Build and deliver secure, scalable REST and gRPC APIs in Go, from development through production
• Own production systems end-to-end — including stability, performance tuning, on-call rotation, and incident resolution
• Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into sound technical solutions
• Modernize legacy systems through thoughtful refactoring, platform improvements, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
• Maintain high engineering standards through clean code, automated testing (Testcontainers, Pact), and rigorous code reviews
• Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to building a high-ownership engineering culture

Must Have Criteria

• 5-7 years of experience building and owning backend systems for large-scale, production applications
• Proficiency in Go as the primary language for backend service development
• Hands-on experience designing and operating REST and/or gRPC APIs at production scale
• 2+ years working with GCP — specifically GKE (Kubernetes Engine), Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage
• Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or Cloud SQL) and managing production data at scale
• Experience with containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes within a CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
• Demonstrated ownership of production systems — including on-call responsibilities, incident response, and reliability improvements

Nice to Have

• Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Terraform in a GCP environment
• Familiarity with Datadog and OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing and observability
• Experience with contract testing tools such as Pact in a microservices architecture
• Domain background in market research, ad-tech, data platforms, or consumer analytics
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities
