Back End Developer

Marlow Navigation is one of the leading ship management companies globally today. We manage a diverse fleet of vessels via a worldwide network of fully owned subsidiary offices, coordinated from our headquarters in Limassol, Cyprus. This is all supported by our in-house crew and ship management operating application.

Fast-moving changes and new possibilities in today's digital landscape have led us towards embarking on a major transformation to re-design this tailor-made software. As such, we are looking for technical expertise to strengthen our core IT and Software Development team and assist in evaluating the current setup and in creating and rolling out our new innovative solution.

Role:Senior Backend Developer

We are looking for someone with:

1. Strong and demonstrable problem-solving ability

5. Passion about emerging technologies and self-development
6. Strong computer science fundamentals
7. Collaborative work-ethic
8. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
9. Excellent communication skills
10. Knowledge of applying object oriented and functional programming styles to real world problems.

Ideally (but not restrictive) you should have:

1. Hands on experience (5+) years using Java and/or Scala
2. Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery
3. Knowledge of microservice architecture
4. Working experience with TDD & BDD
5. Experience building REST API's
6. Experience working with Docker
7. General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes
8. Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
9. Working experience with Jira, Confluence

Nice to haves:

1. Special interest in functional programming
2. Knowledge of reactive manifesto
3. Knowledge of streaming data
4. Experience with Akka, Play Framework or Lagom
5. Experience working with Kafka
6. Knowledge of NoSQL
7. Cloud based development with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud etc.
8. Commercial exposure with ELK stack
