Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Works as the technical lead during the design and deployment of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless local-area networks (WLAN), software-defined networking (SDN), and other communications systems, as required.
- Works as the technical leader responsible for solutions to complex network issues in a timely manner.
- Assists in defining the strategies used to integrate new software systems into the network.
- Leads the definition of documentation standards for network configuration, mapping, processes and service records in accordance with network best practices.
- Responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating day-to-day network issues.
- Responsible for the proactive monitor and performance validation of network and communications systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
- - Design and implement advanced configurations of network gear including switches, routers, firewalls.
- - Participate in peer review processes by reviewing procedures, changes, architectures, designs and standards
- - Prepare documentation and improve team policies and procedures
- - Provide advanced troubleshooting as needed
- - Lead documentation of new deployments or changes to deployments according to documentation standards
Education/Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience of in-depth network engineering is required.
- Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
- Experience with network providers such as Cisco, Palo Alto , Load Balancer F5 , and Meraki is required.
- Experience with Network Access Control and Software Defined Networks is required.
- Experience with Network Load Balancers.
- Experience establishing network designs, and documenting network standards and best practices is required.
- Must have experience working with vendors and partners on product evaluations, solution designs and installations.
- Must have strong collaboration, written and verbal communication, and attention to detail skills.
- Understanding of highly available network solutions
- Understanding of the OSI networking model
- Experience configuring and diagnosing IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF in a dual-stack IPv4/6 environment
- Must have strong technical leadership and decision-making skills, and the ability to work well independently in the absence of supervision and under pressure such as strict deadlines.
