Position: Engineer / Senior Engineer - Data Center Operations (Electrical)
Experience: 3-5 Years
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
Location: Data Center Facility

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure within a Data Center environment. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems including UPS, DG sets, transformers, HT/LT systems, switchgear, and associated critical facilities equipment.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain critical electrical infrastructure to ensure 24x7 uptime of the Data Center.
  • Operate and maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, UPS systems, DG sets, STS, ATS, PDUs, and battery banks.
  • Perform routine preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Monitor electrical parameters through BMS/DCIM systems and take corrective actions when required.
  • Conduct daily inspections and prepare shift reports, maintenance records, and incident reports.
  • Support electrical switching operations and planned shutdown activities following approved SOPs and MOPs.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Analyze electrical faults and perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents.
  • Ensure prompt response and resolution of alarms, breakdowns, and emergency situations.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and service vendors during maintenance and breakdown activities.
  • Monitor energy consumption and support energy efficiency initiatives.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies, electrical safety standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Follow permit-to-work (PTW), LOTO, and change management procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and business continuity exercises.
  • Maintain documentation related to audits, maintenance schedules, and compliance requirements.

Vendor & Asset Management

  • Manage AMC vendors and contractors for electrical systems.
  • Verify service reports, maintenance activities, and spare inventory.
  • Maintain critical spares and ensure availability of consumables.
  • Support annual maintenance contracts and vendor performance reviews.

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • HT/LT Electrical Systems
    • Transformers
    • UPS Systems
    • DG Sets
    • Battery Banks
    • Switchgear and Protection Systems
    • ATS/STS/PDU
    • Earthing & Lightning Protection Systems
    • BMS/DCIM Monitoring Systems
  • Understanding of electrical drawings, SLDs, and control schematics.
  • Familiarity with data center standards and uptime requirements.
  • Knowledge of power quality analysis and load management.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Data Center operations and critical environment management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work in 24x7 rotational shifts.
  • Experience in handling customer audits and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with incident management, change management, and preventive maintenance practices.

  • CDCP / CDCS / CDFOM (EXIN)
  • Electrical Supervisor License
  • Data Center Facility Management Certifications
  • NABET Safety Training
  • PMP (Preferred)
