Job Description

Role Summary

The Transmission TAC Engineer is responsible for managing day-to-day network operations and maintenance across Transmission and IP networks. The role involves advanced technical troubleshooting, handling complex incidents, coordinating with OEMs, and ensuring high network availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support 24x7 network operations for Transmission and IP networks.
  • Perform deep technical troubleshooting on complex issues related to:
    • DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
    • OTN (Optical Transport Network)
    • Subsea transmission systems
    • IP Routing & Switching environments
  • Act as the primary escalation point within the Transmission TAC for critical issues.
  • Handle OEM/vendor coordination for issue resolution, including:
    • Fault analysis
    • Bug identification and tracking
    • Software patching and upgrades
  • Manage RMA (Return Material Authorization) processes for faulty hardware replacement.
  • Analyze recurring issues and drive root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive actions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (IP, NOC, Field Operations) for end-to-end resolution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, solutions, and network changes.
  • Support network optimization and performance improvement initiatives.

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience in:
    • DWDM, OTN, Subsea networks
    • IP/MPLS, routing & switching fundamentals
  • Exposure/experience with OEM platforms:
    • Ciena MCP (Manage, Control and Plan)
    • Infinera
    • Tejas Networks
  • Knowledge of DCN (Data Communication Network) concepts
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and alarm handling systems

Behavioral & Functional Skills

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage critical outages
  • Proactive approach to issue resolution and continuous improvement

Work Conditions

  • Flexible to work in shift-based environment (24x7 TAC operations)
  • Willingness to provide on-call / night support as per business requirements


Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Graduation with 4-7 years of relevant experience
