Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Finance Manager to support the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will assist in managing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, compliance, cash flow management, and process improvements while ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards.

The successful candidate possesses strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely recording of all transactions.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to management.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Develop financial dashboards and KPI reports.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Oversee vendor payments and customer collections.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and support collection efforts.
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors and customers.

Cash Flow & Treasury

  • Monitor daily cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Coordinate payment approvals and banking transactions.
  • Support treasury activities and optimize working capital.

Payroll Support

  • Review payroll data for accuracy before processing.
  • Ensure timely payment of employee salaries and statutory deductions.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding payroll-related changes.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations and reporting.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation.
  • Maintain proper financial records for compliance purposes.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and internal controls.
  • Assist in implementing automation and system enhancements.
  • Prepare and maintain finance SOPs and documentation.

Team Support

  • Supervise and mentor junior finance team members.
  • Provide guidance on accounting procedures and company policies.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with special projects and ad-hoc assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • CPA, ACCA, CMA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, financial modeling preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with payroll processing and employee expense management.
  • Experience preparing management reports and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Experience supporting external audits and statutory compliance.
  • Exposure to process improvement initiatives and automation projects.
