Academic Background: Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Industry : Gear Cutting Machine tool industry
Work Experience: 2 to 4 years
Main Task
Customer Support:
- Providing pre-sales technical support, including feasibility studies and presentations to customers.
- Offering post-sales support, including training,troubleshooting, and resolving process-related issues at customer sites.
- Conducting machine commissioning and ensuring optimal performance.
Application Development
- Developing and optimising applications for existing machines.
- Assisting in the development of new gear cutting machine products.
- Conducting component trials and prove-outs.
Technical Expertise
- Analysing engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and manufacturing processes related to gear cutting.
- Understanding customer requirements and translating them into machine configurations and process parameters.
- Providing technical documentation like offers, control plans, and cycle time studies.
Collaboration And Communication
- Collaborating with sales and product development teams to address customer needs and provide feedback.
- Maintaining clear communication with customers to address queries and provide solutions.
- Representing the company at exhibitions and industry events.
Competencies Required
Gear Manufacturing Process Knowledge:
- Understanding of various gear types (spur, helical,bevel, etc.), gear cutting methods (hobbing, shaping,grinding, etc.), and the associated tooling, fixtures,and setup procedures.
Machine Operation And Setup
- Familiarity with operating and setting up gear cutting machines, including CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens,etc.).
CNC Programming
- Proficiency in programming gear cutting machines,including part programming and understanding of different CNC control systems.
Troubleshooting And Diagnostics
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to machine performance, process parameters, and product quality.
Metrology And Inspection
- Knowledge of gear metrology principles, inspection equipment (CMMs, gear checkers), and the ability to interpret measurement data.
Skill Required
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, explain technical concepts,and collaborate with internal teams.
Customer Focus
- Understanding customer needs and providing technical support to ensure customer satisfaction.
Adaptability And Flexibility
- Willingness to adapt to changing customer requirements and work in a dynamic environment.
Willingness To Travel
- Ability to travel to customer sites for installations,training, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge On SPC
- Ability to prove machine for statistical process control (SPC)
