Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop microservices and backend components using Core Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop, maintain, and version RESTful APIs; ensure adherence to API standards, contract-first design where applicable, and backward compatibility.
- Implement API integrations with internal/external systems using REST/SOAP, webhooks, and third‑party services; handle authentication/authorization (e.g., OAuth2/JWT) as applicable.
- Use Spring Boot ecosystem features (e.g., Spring MVC, Spring Validation, Spring Data/JDBC) to deliver clean and testable code.
- Build resilient services with proper exception handling, retries/timeouts, circuit breaking patterns (as applicable), and structured logging.
- Write efficient SQL queries and optimize data access (indexes, query plans) for performance and scalability.
- Create API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger) and maintain technical documentation for integration flows and operational support.
- Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and ensure high code quality and security best practices.
- Collaborate with QA and DevOps on CI/CD, deployments, and production support; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive fixes.
- Estimate tasks, manage deliverables, and contribute to sprint planning and agile ceremonies.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of backend development experience with Java (Java 8+ preferred).
- Strong Core Java and JDK fundamentals: collections, concurrency, streams, I/O/NIO, exception handling, and JVM basics.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for building and deploying services (configuration, profiles, dependency injection, REST controllers).
- Proven experience in API development and integration: REST principles, HTTP methods/status codes, pagination, idempotency, and error handling.
- Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
- Experience with data access patterns (JDBC/Spring JDBC, JPA/Hibernate, MyBatis) and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
- Understanding of secure API development: authentication/authorization, input validation, and OWASP-aware practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to work across teams.
- Experience with microservices patterns and components such as API Gateway, service discovery, and configuration management.
- Knowledge of messaging and streaming (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and caching (Redis).
- Build and automation tools: Maven/Gradle; CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/Jenkins/GitHub Actions).
- Containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes.
- Observability tools (ELK/Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana) and performance testing exposure.
Key Competencies
- Ownership mindset and accountability for end-to-end delivery.
- Ability to translate requirements into technical design and working software.
- Attention to quality: testing, documentation, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaboration and stakeholder management in an Agile environment.
