You\u2019ve practiced your answers to a multitude of common interview questions and have a few questions of your own for the interviewer. Your interview suit is pressed and ready. But what do you bring to the interview? <br><br>We\u2019ve created this handy checklist, with the help of Monster Interview Expert Marky Stein<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, so you won\u2019t forget a thing. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br><br><strong>Interview Checklist Items for Your Briefcase<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"body\"><span class=\"body\"><br><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Your Resume and Job\/Professional References:<\/strong> But don\u2019t just throw these crucial documents in your bag. According to Stein, linguists and psychologists have found that 93 percent of all communication is <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">nonverbal<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">. How you present this information says a lot about you. <br><br>To that end, Stein recommends you buy an inexpensive two-pocket folder in blue, since this color appeals to both men and women and conveys a business feel. On the left side, place your resume, and on the right, your letters of recommendation and reference list. When you get to the interview, say, \u201cI wanted to bring an extra copy of my resume &#8212; here it is,\u201d and open the folder, turning it around for the interviewer to read. <br><br>\u201cThis is a sign you are open and honest as well as organized,\u201d Stein says. \u201cThe more you show you are prepared, the more you are showing respect.\u201d <br>&nbsp; <\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Pad and Pen:<\/strong> Taking a few notes during your interview (while being careful not to stare at your notepad the whole time) is another sign of respect. \u201cIt makes them feel you are listening,\u201d Stein explains.<br>&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Business Card:<\/strong> People either take in information visually, audibly or through touch. \u201cThe more you give them to touch, the more real it seems to them,\u201d she says. <br>&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Directions:<\/strong> \u201cThese lower your anxiety,\u201d Stein says, adding that it\u2019s preferable to drive to your interview location in advance and park so you can see how long the journey takes. <br>&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Cellphone:<\/strong> You can always leave this bit of modern life in your car, but if you must take it with you, make sure it stays turned off and in your briefcase; it\u2019s a huge sign of disrespect to be interrupted during an interview or give the appearance you\u2019ll be interrupted. \u201cIf you\u2019re a man, don\u2019t even wear it on your belt,\u201d Stein recommends. \u201cKeep it hidden.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"body\"><span class=\"body\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The Intangibles<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/span><br><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Company Research:<\/strong> In almost every interview, you\u2019ll be asked what you know about the company, Stein says. To prepare for this question, she recommends <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Hoovers.com<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">. You can also check out companies on <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Monster<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">.<br>&nbsp; <\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A Smile:<\/strong> It may sound sappy, but this nonverbal clue is an immediate rapport-builder. Interviewers are often nervous, too. \u201cIn one-sixteenth of a second, we assess whether someone will harm, help or hurt us,\u201d Stein says. \u201c(A smile) immediately tells someone that you\u2019re not going to hurt them.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Christine F.
